Daily Online Shopping Experiences
I have a friend who loves fashion. He is a go-getter. He never takes no for an answer. Every time he walks into a room, people stop to take notice. He is a Top Man. And he shops here.
Representing the heights of British mens’ fashion, Top Man turns a casual T-shirt or a pair of shorts into a bold fashion statement. I look through this site and suddenly my boyfriend’s collection of hoodies looks… boring. I mean, really, a diamond pattern quilted hoodie with corduroy patches? Do they make those for women?? The most basic things look interesting. This is not your Gap or even Abercrombie. This is Top Man.
Hailing from the great UK, Top Man is every fashionable man’s dream come true. With bold colors and patterns, these are clothes meant for a man who wants to get noticed. Even if all you’re looking for is a good pair of skinny jeans, this is the place to shop. Their tops are available in sizes that fit up to 46″ chests, and their pants and shorts are offered in 26″-36″ waist sizes. The only difference between the jeans here and those typically sold in US is that they do not define the inseam lengths in inches, rather they are defined as extra short (28″), short (30″), regular (32″), long (34″), and extra long (36″). Sorry, big men, no big and tall sizes here, but I will definitely keep an eye on this site and see if they do in the future.
The web design is sleek and simple, with minimal empty space without making it look cluttered. Product pages have all of the essential info with no unnecessary chatter. Product images are HUGE (when opening larger image, of course).
The site has a handy location converter on the top right corner of the screen, and selecting United States will load the US site which has all the prices converted to dollars (this made me curious and I changed the location to Argentina, which switched it back to British Pounds). They claim to ship to over 100 countries, and I’m not going to actually sit and count their country list, but it certainly is extensive. What’s nice is that they do not charge shipping by weight, they only charge one flat fee for all orders. For Americans that means $15 for standard shipping, and $30 for “faster” shipping. If the order total is over $75, then standard shipping is free. They have a 14-day return policy.
Good news for New Yorkers and Chicagoans: They have flagship stores in those two cities. They are also currently building a 20,000 square foot flagship store in Vegas. I can’t wait until they have a store set up in San Francisco.
For those who love to stay ahead of trends and keep a close eye on what’s new in the fashion world, their blog contains all that plus a host of other topics such as film/tv, music, sports, and electronics.
The shopping doesn’t stop at just jeans and T-shirts. Just as they are fit for casual occasions, they also carry their own suits. You can either buy pieces separately to make your own 3-piece outfit, or get one of their suit sets. They also have a selection of over 300 shoes in sizes 6-13. On top of that, you have hats, belts, jewelry… even their own grooming products, although that last one is currently available in UK only.
If you’re a student and possess a Student Advantage card, you get 10% off everything. Now that is pretty sweet.
After poking around quite a bit on this site, I see that they have a womens store too(!!). I can’t wait to take a look and review it.
